The DJI CrystalSky monitor was created to view the image of a camera onboard a drone from the outside, an alternative solution to the smartphone. Its ultra bright screen allows it to be visible even in full sunlight. Thanks to the cooperation with the DJI GO application, it is compatible with the Phantom 3 , Phantom 4 , Inspire 1 , Inspire 2 , Matrix 600 , with Cendence control equipment, as well as with Osmo and Osmo +. It is also possible to use the monitor with a Mavic UAV via a USB connection and Phantom 4K and Standard via WiFi network.
The DJI monitor is available in 3 models: DJI Crystalsky 5.5 inch, DJI Crystalsky 7.85 inch 1000 cd/m² and DJI Crystalsky 7.85 inch 2000 cd/m².
The brightness of 2000 cd/m² means that DJI's CrystalSky screen is four times brighter than most conventional mobile devices (twice as bright for the 1000 cd/m² model). The image is clear and sharp and the colours are intense. The dedicated sunlight readability enhancement mode has been developed to display the image in real time in full sunlight.
Due to software access restrictions on smartphones and tablets, video coding can be problematic. When viewing photos or videos from the camera, there may be image instability, long delays, etc. The CrystalSky monitor decoder provides a smooth live image with minimal delay.
The operating system, designed from scratch, removes unnecessary Android applications and services and is also resistant to viruses and unwanted software. As a result, DJI CrystalSky displays deliver optimal performance at all times. The integrated DJI GO application gives you access to all the functions of DJI devices.
An external 2S 4920 mAh battery gives CrystalSky monitors a longer life than mobile devices. In addition, the discharge rate is controlled, even at low temperatures. Autonomy is 4 to 5 hours for 7.85-inch CrystalSky screens and 5 to 6 hours for 5.5-inch CrystalSky screens.
Thanks to two Micro SD card slots, the capacity of the device can be easily expanded. Recorded material can also be transferred directly to the monitor and the Micro SD card can be used as a backup medium. The DJI CrystalSky monitors support H.264 and H.265 video encoding, allowing playback of files in 30 and 60 frames. The video signal can also be output via the HDMI port.
Most mobile devices are designed to operate at moderate temperatures. DJI's CrystalSky's external battery is designed for extreme temperatures. The device is capable of operating even at low temperatures down to -20°C and positive temperatures up to 40°C due to the internal cooling system.
