This 3V vertical submersible water pump is perfect for a small indoor water feature or for watering plants. It operates quietly with a 3V DC motor and uses approximately 100mA of power. The pump must be primed before use and must remain fully submerged during operation, as it can only pump water, not air. It can only pump in one direction and cannot be reversed to move water in the opposite direction.

The power requirements for this device are 3V and 100mA. The new micro:bit V2 has 200mA to power external devices, so this pump can be powered directly from the micro:bit.

The micro:bit can only supply 15mA on its pins, so it is necessary to use a transistor or FET to control it from the pins, either in on/off mode or using PWM to vary the rate. If you are using the original micro:bit or if the microbit already controls other devices, this pump can also be powered and controlled via a motor driver board or similar.

Note: This pump is not supplied with hoses. Therefore, lengths of silicone hose must be purchased.
