The autonomous robotic platform chassis, two wheels and tyres, a Kitronik line tracking sensor board and an ultrasonic sensor are all included in the package. No welding is required, and only minor mechanical assembly is needed. Mount the tyres on the wheels, then push the wheels on. Both the line tracking sensor and the ultrasonic distance sensor plug directly into the board. Insert the Raspberry Pi Pico into the socket on the board, then add four AA batteries to the battery holders underneath and you're done. Your robot buggy is now ready to be programmed.
The included booklet guides you through each step of discovering your robot. It includes a complete assembly guide, instructions for preparing the Raspberry Pi Pico, instructions for installing an editor (Thonny) and instructions for writing code for every aspect of the robotics platform. There are no unanswered questions on the board.
In addition to the simple getting started guide, online lessons that go into more detail about coding the basic functions of the board are available. Links to the tutorials can be found in the resources section at the bottom of this page.
Kitronik has created a collection of Micropython modules that can be obtained here to help make programming the robot as simple as possible. More information is available in the kit's instruction manual. If you are not familiar with GIT, we have put together an online beginners guide to help you get started. This guide is available at https://kitronik.co.uk/GitGuide.
